Mechelle, I never knew that clipping will seed your lawn. I guess I am not surprised since I have seen dead grass that I use go to seed...

I am with you on the plastic bag issue. The supermarkets here in nj break the boxes down right away. They put them in this crusher.

When I was building new garden beds, I wanted boxes to lay over the grass. The grocery stores told me that they could not hold any boxes for me. It was a fire hazard. I wish they would leave a few out. People could use them for moving or storage. Anna

note on #5: not only is it healthy for your lawn to leave the clippings, if you place them in bald areas on your lawn they will actually seed it! No need to buy "spot" seeding products, just use your clippings! (Note that my husband is a landscaper.)

As for grocery bags, grrr! I hate them! Even if I forget my reusables, I still skip the bags! I figure that I can either pack up at the car (and I live in PA, brrrrr), or toss the items in the trunk to be packed in boxes, bags at home prior to carting everything into the house! Note: I'd rather ask for boxes at the store than use bags, but boxes are often scarce at stores because they tear them down and put them into the recycle bin unless someone calls them and asks for them for moving purposes. Second note: why not use them to move instead of buying boxes??

Those are some great suggestions for learning to be a greener person. My partner and I have a lot of work to do that's for sure!
