"Stock is a really smart idea for a Christmas gift, especially if the person you are buying for is in that spot where they don’t have much cash. It is truly the gift that keeps giving. So many people throw away the gifts they get a few months/years after they have worn our their useful lives… great idea.”

Editor Note: the my dandelion patch link does not work.

National parks and nature reserves are beautiful and precious places that need to be preserved worldwide.

The most limiting factor in conservation world wide is the shortage of rangers: estimated at over 100,000 in developing countries. Currently no government or conservation organization in the world addresses this problem. That is why the Adopt A Ranger Foundation has been created: http://www.adopt-a-ranger

As an alternative gift, you can give your beloved one a sponsorship to the Adopt A Ranger Foundation and help spread the cause by visiting the Adopt A Ranger website and leaving a message on your park visits at: http://www.birdlist.org/phpbb and posting some of your picture of national parks at: http://www.nature-worldwide.info/phpbb

Mostly because I never have any idea about what to give people I always give them photographs. I'm a keen photographer, so usually throughout the year I amass a number of photographs of friends and family. A really good picture of the people you know having a good time within a nice frame makes a very personal and nice gift, and is quite light on the earth.

The only problem is that people are getting a bit too used to receiving these by now.. - it was good to get some fresh ideas here as a hopeless shopper.
