A Simple Romantic Green Night for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. Perhaps buying flowers, candy, or presents for your cutie is not your thing. Maybe your sex life is hot enough that you don’t need the items listed in my article, “10 Tips for a Hot Green Valentine’s Day.” What else could you do? Jason Crawford, the author of Scream to Be Green, suggests for those who do not wish to buy anything to cook a nice dinner for your loved one. Very romantic and an excellent idea.

Here is another suggestion, how about curling up with your Valentine and watch a romantic movie? Go out and rent a movie from your local video store, which supports your local economy and you are reusing something that is already used. Pretty green. Perhaps you have a romantic video or can catch one on TV at your house. Even greener!

Add some Eden organic popcorn with the recipes listed here and maybe some organic free trade chocolate or cocoa for hot chocolate. Throw on a java log and you are good to go.

Perhaps to offset your carbon footprint for the evening, consider making your own heat with a few soy candles …Sorry once you write a post like I did about sex toys, bondage, and lubricant, it is hard to forget…

Back to the movie and out of the gutter. If I had to name three romantic movies that I like along with my favorite lines from them, they would be as follows:

Top of the list would be “Love Story” as Jenny (Ali McGraw) looks at Oliver (Ryan O’Neil) and says, “love means you never have to say you are sorry.” Is that not the best line? Tear Jerker!

[youtube]

Second on my list would be “Gone with the Wind,” My favorite line of course would be Rhett Butler declaring he is leaving Scarlett. She says, “if you go, where shall I go, what shall I do? He replies, “frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” Watch. Classic.

[youtube]

Third on my list would be Harry met Sally. My favorite line is when Sally is faking an orgasm in the middle of a coffee shop and an older woman says, “I’ll have what she is having.” Watch. Hilarious!

So, here are my questions to you, readers?

  1. How would you suggest spending Valentine’s Day?
  1. What are your favorite romantic movies? (If you like my choices, it is okay to choose them too.) Feel free to tell me your favorite lines.

You can answer both or either. It does not matter. Also, if you read this post after V-Day, feel free to add. You never know who will read this post next year or during the year looking for some romance ideas. Romance should not be limited to Valentine’s Day….(that is my husband’s wishful thinking…)

Let’s spread some love. Happy Valentine’s Day to all my readers!

My fiance and I plan on watching a movie at home with pizza. It’s how we spent our first Valentine’s Day and we like to keep it low key. Instead of flowers we are going to purchase another plant for our house.

Anna, I am with you on “When Harry Met Sally.” I love the beginning when the older couples are being interviewed about how they met and fell in love. “A good man is like a melon. You just know.” Another fun move is “Love and Basketball.” Oh! And “Overboard” with Goldie Hawne. Sigh…..

one of my favorite lovey dovey movies is French Kiss, with Meg Ryan. I laugh my head off every single time and looove Kevin Kline’s french accent. A good V-day pick!

How did I know “When Harry Met Sally” was going to be on this page! Anyway, I watched “Little Children” last night. Calling it a V Day movie would be a stretch.

Valentine’s Day is a sweet time for couples, but is often associated with the more negative elements of luxury and consumerism.Another idea for greening your valentine’s date: Stay home and have a picnic! Instead of going out on a date, create a cozy romantic evening at home. Prepare appetizers, dinner, and dessert, and spread a beautiful blanket or quilt for a picnic on the floor in front of the fireplace, or in the bathtub! Or have a “bumbershoot” picnic and rig up a big umbrella and eat under it!
