“Oxygen Required” When Wearing this Eco-Clothing Line

Want to win this terrific bamboo top? Check out details below.

Today was one of those wet, cold, miserable days where the cold just travels up your spine. Do you feel like I do, that Spring needs to be sprung? I am so tired of wearing my turtleneck and corduroys, and could add a little spring sophistication to my wardrobe. Perhaps you do too?

Look no further if you wish to add a fashionable, but sustainable garment to that drab winter wardrobe. Oxygen Required’s spring and fall collections offers sophistication and style along with sustainability since all of their pieces contain bamboo, a fast growing plant, which is harvested in less than three years. The bamboo blended fabrics are soft to the touch. An added benefit to this biodegradable material, according to the Company, is the fibers contain an agent called, “bamboo kun,” which prevents the cultivation of bacteria, resulting in odor free clothes.

The Company is environmentally conscious as well. Factory surplus fabrics are used in the production of the clothing line in order to reduce waste and consume fewer materials. As indicated on their website, the Company’s manufacturing partner adheres to human rights and environmental standards.

The collection features versatility from its silhouettes, dresses, and “lounge to lunch” styles to its edgier fitness pieces. Prices for the clothing line range from $28 for tops to $118 for sweaters to $58 for pants. Some of my favorites of the collection are as follows:

From the Spring Line:

Oxygen Required PI 002

Oxygen Required PI 013

From the Fall line:

Oxygen Required 019

To get an idea of both of the collections, you can preview some of the pieces on the Company’s website. The spring collection can be purchased now at certain retail and online stores including Beklina and Bivouac. The Fall collection will not be available until August.

Although many environmental fashions are featuring bamboo in their lines, the production of bamboo has received criticism due to the chemicals used to create the fabric. Alternatively, some hail the use of bamboo in fabric as an environmental choice since it comes from a renewable source. In the end, only the consumer can make that decision as to how green they wish to be.

So, do you want to win the flirty long sleeve lilac spring top featured above? It is a size medium (but fits like a small). It is made out of 60% bamboo and 40% cotton. Well, all you have to do is tell me what your favorite spring past-time is. I can only ship to the continental US. Guys can enter too for that special woman in your life. I will draw the names out of the hat to win this terrific top. Deadline is 6pm on Friday!!

In case you do not win it, you can buy it from one of the stores listed on their website. It is a long sleeve knit jacket (OR11016) in Burnished Lilac.

Planting flowers native to my area and watching them grow.

Oooo! Ooooo!! I’m a size medium but look like a small!! [Waving hand way up in the air!]

My spring pastime will really show my true green dorkiness but when the snow melts and the robins are returning, I like to get outside and pick up all the trash that has sprouted up.

Amazing all the crap that sometimes emerges along side roads and in ditches.

Then after I complete that, I can enjoy my morning walks without hearing myself grump about all the litter.

I’ll have to check out the men’s line since I can’t imagine myself in any of the above outfits. Maybe I can talk them into letting me test a shirt for comfort?

GHI, unfortuneately, they don’t have a men’s line. Do you have a special someone to give the jacket too if you win? PS you have to say what you will do this spring. Anna

Spring time= watching my flowers and trees come to life, sailing after a long cold winter, complaining about my lawn, camping out without heaters, planting annuals on mothers day……I could go on for pages, it is a great time of year!

My wife or older daughter take everything that I bring into the house so one of them could put it to good use.

My favorite Spring past-time (and present-time!) is going for walks outside and going to baseball games with my Dad. These are some really cute clothes!

These are really cute clothes. Bamboo as a cloth would be interesting to try. Thanks for the recommendation! Also, I’ve listed you in my blogroll on my site. Your eco home building project is inspirational!
