One smart Mama brought her gun to Fox News? A shoot out? Anyone hurt?  No. No. and Maybe.  Hold your horses while I answer all of your questions.

Why was a smart mama on Fox News?

Jennifer Taggert is the editor of the blog,  The Smart Mama, and fellow lawyer and Green Mom Carnival’er.  She is also the author of the book, Smart Mama’s Green Guide: Simple Steps to Reduce Your Child’s Toxic Chemical Exposure A Smart Mama’s Guide to Less Toxic Babies.  She was a guest on  Fox News  to explain what type of  toxic chemicals  are in our household products.

How come she brought a gun?  What was that going to prove?

Well, it is not a traditional gun like we know, but a special one that can read the level of toxic chemicals in products.  It is called an XRF Analyzer  and she has used it to test levels of lead in children toys as well as other toxic chemicals in household products. Want to know what chemicals are lurking in your couches?  Jennifer knows. She points that gun and all is revealed.  Scary.

Back to the show.  You would be amazed at what Jennifer shared with the hosts of the morning show.  Did you know that your household coated strainer might contain high levels of lead?

And, lastly, was anyone hurt?

Maybe, if you have any of the household items Jennifer points out as toxic for you and your children. Toxic chemicals can be present in your children’s toys to your shampoos.

Watch the above short video, to see Jennifer explain how to make your home less toxic by being conscious of what you bring home.  She is one smart mama and I am glad I have a friend like her to keep me safe. I constantly bend her ear asking questions about chemicals.  The next best thing to having Jennifer as a friend, is to buy her book.

While you are at it, please support the reform of the Toxic Substance Chemical  Act by supporting the Kid-Safe Chemical Act.
