Hang Ten in QuikSilver’s Eco-Boardshorts to Help Protect the Oceans

July 8, 2008 By: Anna59 Comments

Make a splash by winning this Quiksilver eco-boardshorts. See details below.

If I were to ask my teenage sons what summer is all about they would reply, “swimming, going to the beach, and hanging out with my friends.” What better way to do this in a comfortable, breathable, eco-friendly boardshorts, which is not only lighter on the Earth, but a portion of its proceeds go towards a good cause?

Well, look no further since Quiksilver, has partnered with The Surfrider Foundation to create an organic 100% cotton Slightly Choppy special edition boardshorts. It features original artwork donated by Quiksilver’s renowned artist, Scott Richards, as well as the Surfrider Foundation’s iconic wave logo throughout the patchwork design. So now you can be environmentally stylish as well as helping the Surfrider Foundation through a portion of the sales of the shorts to protect the worlds’ oceans and beaches for others to enjoy. The Surfrider’s Foundation has been in existence since 1984 and currently maintains over 50,000 members and 80 chapters worldwide.

This boardshorts partnership stems from the two organizations’ close ties as well as Quiksilver’s commitment to enhance the quality of life for the communities of boardriders across the world through its support of environmental, educational, health and youth-related projects. Supporting our oceans is right up Quiksilver’s alley.

The shorts are available for $59.50 at Quiksilver retail stores nationwide and online. So, enjoy those lazy days of summer in the Slightly Choppy boardshorts knowing that it has made a difference for the protection of our oceans.

The Contest:

Weather is warm and the surf is up! Want to win a men size 32 or 34 Slightly Choppy broadshorts? Only US citizens can apply. (You choose which of the two size you want if you win.) Quiksilver will be sending you the shorts directly.

Ladies, you can enter too. Perhaps you like young men shorts or you have a favorite guy, child, or friend who would love these shorts.

All you have to do is leave a comment about your favorite summer pastime (whether it is eco or not.) I will pick someone randomly (the old pick the name out of the hat trick) so don’t worry about the quality of your comment. I just love comments. The contest will conclude Friday, July 18, 2008 at 6 pm eastern time.

Good Luck. Be part of the wave even though it might be slightly choppy!

Those shorts are awesome!!! I think my hubby would look awesome in them, although he’d say he’s too “old” for them. But I’ll bet my son would think I’m da bomb if I handed them to him!! (Does anyone actually say “da bomb” anymore? Probably not. . . )

Anyhow, my favorite pastime is sitting poolside in my awesome cushy lounge chair, watching the kids swim, listening to good music and sipping a tart margarita!

There is a group consisting of five couples and 13 kids who I have known for three years now. We have totally different schedules during the school year, so last June I started a Summer Cocktail Club. The grown-ups sip frosty drinks (not too many!) while the kids frolic in the yard and play games. We do this every other week in the summer and we are all happier for the experience. 🙂

I love the shorts – hats off to QuickSilver and the Surfrider Foundation for a killer design.

My favorite summer pastime is spending the day at the beach. When I was a teenager, a day at the beach would involve my girlfriends, a bottle of tanning oil, a cooler full of cold beverages, and a boombox. Now a day at the beach includes my family, a bottle of sunscreen, umbrellas, toys, surfboards, more sunscreen, and a cooler full of cold beverages. 🙂

My favorite summer past time is:
    spending time with my children.
When school is in session my children are so busy with school, sports, band and so much more it seems like we loose touch and I miss spending the whole day with them. During the summer we get to hang out, watch movies, cook meals together, and most of all make the 1200 mile drive one way to visit my older children, grandchildren, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I really hate to see the summer end as each summer day is special to me even though winter is special its just more stressful.
